Job summary

Atlas Machine & Supply, Inc. is seeking an experienced Field Machinist to join our team at the Houston, Texas location.

The role involves performing repairs and modifications in the field and in-house, operating portable machining equipment, and assisting the machine shop when field work isn’t scheduled. Ideal candidates will have at least 5 years of mechanical experience, the ability to read blueprints, and strong safety and communication skills.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is required.
• Minimum 5 years of mechanical work experience; onsite field machining is a plus.
• Read and interpret scopes of work and blueprints.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; able to coordinate with engineers and supervisors.
• DOT certification required; 21+ years old; CDL license and welding skills are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist with preliminary site visits and job planning.
• Perform repairs or modifications of equipment in the field.
• Operate portable machining equipment (mills, flange facers, boring bars, lathes, welders).
• Assist machine shop when field work is not scheduled.
• Cross-train in machining, welding, and other field solutions as required.
• Work safely and meet regulatory compliance and company policies.
• Support supervision and engineers with design/manufacturing of tools or fixtures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Atlas Machine & Supply, Inc., is seeking experienced Field Machinist to join our team at our Houston, Texas location. This position supports the Field Service Division in resolving industrial equipment issues by performing repairs or modifications both in-house and at customer sites. The role involves the use of various mechanical tools, with opportunities to operate portable machining equipment such as mills, flange facers, boring bars, lathes, welders, and other specialized equipment as needed.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBIILITIES:

• Assists with preliminary site visits and job planning
• Performs repairs or modifications of equipment as applicable in the field
• Operates various portable machining equipment to complete tasks (mills, flange , boring bars, lathes, welders, etc.)
• Assists the machine shop with jobs when no field work is scheduled
• Training may be required for specific Press knowledge.
• Will be cross trained in machining, welding, mechanical and other field solutions as required
• Performs work safely and meets regulatory compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements
• Responsibilities will include assisting Supervisor, Engineering and Manager as it relates to work scope for design and manufacturing of custom machine tools or fixtures
• Performs other duties as assigned

REQUIREMENTS:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Minimum 5 years of experience in mechanical work; onsite field machining experience is a plus
• Ability to read and interpret scopes of work and blueprints
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills; must be able to coordinate with Project Engineers and Supervisors
• Detail-oriented with solid analytical and problem-solving skills
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and other standard computer applications
• DOT certification required; must be 21+ years old
• CDL license and welding skills are a plus
• Must be able to lift 50 lbs and work in various environments, including inclement weather
• Flexible schedule with ability to work overtime; frequent travel across North America (approximately 75%)
• Must consistently demonstrate a high level of professionalism representing Atlas
