New York Botanical Garden is seeking a Field Logistics Support (RPT) to assist the management team with daily operations and field logistics. The role includes operating a tram and other vehicles, guiding visitors, and supporting Exhibitions setup and transportation needs on a regular part-time schedule.

The successful candidate will have a valid driver's license for at least three years, strong communication skills, and the ability to work weekends, weekdays, and holidays in outdoor conditions,

Qualifications

  • Previous customer service experience desired.

Responsibilities

  • Basic vehicle maintenance; including refueling and cleaning.
  • Safely transport passengers through Garden grounds while providing narrative explanation.
  • Observe all institutional and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Stay up-to-date on Garden events, programs, and exhibitions; inform visitors about all areas.
  • Conduct transactions per Visitor Experience policies.
  • Learn admissions apparatus and protocols.
  • Assist management with training junior staff on trams and vehicles.
  • Assist with exhibition setup, breakdown, signage, and transportation needs.
  • Monitor tram radio calls and respond as needed.
  • Assist with day-of tram bookings and group visit logistics.
  • Resolve POS hardware malfunctions such as printer jams and scanner connectivity.
  • Act as Visitor Experience Attendant and Tram driver as needed.
  • Perform other duties as needed by department management.

Field Logistics Support (RPT)
Position Summary

Responsible for assisting management team with daily operational and field logistics. Will also function as a tram driver and operate tram and other vehicles in a safe and professional manner. This representative will assist management with mentoring staff on tram and other vehicles as needed. Emphasis will be placed on customer service (greeting, guiding visitors, promoting Membership etc). The individual in this role will report to the Director of Experience (Operations).

Specific Duties & Responsibilities
  • Basic vehicle maintenance; including refueling and cleaning
  • Safely transport passengers through Garden grounds while providing narrative explanation
  • Observance of all institutional and departmental policies and procedures
  • Keep up-to-date and knowledgeable on all Garden events, programs, and current exhibitions; inform visitors about all areas of the Garden
  • Conduct transactions in accordance with policies and procedures set forth by the Visitor Experience department
  • Become familiar in admissions apparatus and protocols
  • Assist management with training junior staff on trams and other vehicles
  • Assist with exhibition set-up, breakdown, signage, and transportation needs
  • Monitor and respond to tram radio calls and other radio calls as needed
  • Assist with day-of tram bookings and group visit logistics
  • Assist management with resolving POS hardware malfunctions such as printer jams and scanner connectivity
  • Act as a Visitor Experience Attendant and Tram driver as needed
  • Perform other duties as specified and needed by department management
Qualifications

Physical Demand & Work Environment
  • While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to, at minimum, work in a variety of weather conditions and to be outdoors,
  • Ability to stand and or walk for long periods, and lift and or carry 50lbs.

Work Schedule
  • This a regular part time role
    • Thursday to Sunday 9AM to 6 PM

  • $24 per hour
