Description

Position Summary

The Tram Driver is responsible for safely transporting guests throughout the Shepherd of the Hills property while delivering engaging narration about the historic Homestead and surrounding attractions. This position plays a key role in delivering an exceptional guest experience while maintaining the highest standards of vehicle safety, courtesy, and professionalism.

Essential Functions

The following duties are considered essential to this position. Reasonable accommodations may be made for qualified individuals with disabilities to perform these functions.

  • Safely operate a motorized tram and transport guests along designated routes throughout the property.
  • Deliver informative and engaging narration about Shepherd of the Hills history, the Homestead, and current attractions and shows.
  • Assist guests with boarding and disembarking, including those with mobility needs or disabilities.
  • Conduct pre-shift and post-shift vehicle inspections; report any mechanical issues to the supervisor immediately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and guest-ready tram at all times.
  • Manage passenger capacity and enforce safety guidelines, including seating requirements.
  • Monitor weather and road conditions; adjust routes or halt operations when safety is at risk.
  • Communicate effectively with other drivers and staff via radio to coordinate guest flow.
  • Inform guests about shows, dining, retail, and other property experiences.
  • Follow all company policies, traffic regulations, and park safety protocols.
  • Respond calmly and professionally to guest questions, complaints, or emergencies.
  • Complete daily logs, incident reports, and any required vehicle documentation.
  • Perform other duties as assigned in support of the essential operations of Guest Services.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

Required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Valid driver's license required; clean driving record with no major violations within the past three (3) years.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain any applicable specialty vehicle permits as required.
  • Ability to sit for extended periods while operating the tram and assist guests with boarding as needed.
  • Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions including heat, humidity, rain, and cold.
  • Ability to work a varied schedule including weekdays, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as necessary.
  • Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills with a friendly, outgoing personality.
  • Must successfully pass a criminal background check and motor vehicle record (MVR) check in accordance with company policy.
  • Must pass a pre-employment drug screen in accordance with company policy.

Preferred

  • Previous experience driving commercial vehicles, shuttles, trams, or buses.
  • Experience in a guest-facing, hospitality, or entertainment environment.
  • Ability to quickly learn property layout, attraction details, and show schedules to enhance guest narration.
