Job summary

National Railroad Safety Services, Inc. (NRSS) seeks a Contractor in Charge (CIC) in Mesquite, NV. The CIC oversees safety for railroad rights-of-way, conducts job briefings, and ensures compliance with federal regulations.

A field-focused role demanding strong communication and safety leadership. The CIC coordinates with dispatchers, engineers, and supervisors, documents activities, and enforces all applicable policies.

Qualifications

• Requires high school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 2 years' experience in a railroad company, preferably in maintenance of way or TY&E departments.
• Willingness to travel long term (multi-month deployments) and to undergo required training.

Responsibilities

• Oversee worksite safety and provide flagging services as needed.
• Ensure compliance with FRA regulations (49 CFR 214) and track safety rules.
• Monitor track conditions and coordinate train movements with dispatchers and supervisors.
• Document daily activities, briefings, incident reports, and logs for management and regulatory bodies.
• Enforce railroad, state, and federal policies.
