Job summary

Clark Construction Company in Southeast Michigan is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to help lead field operations on commercial construction projects. The role supports the Superintendent with planning, scheduling, safety, and quality control to deliver projects on time and within budget.

Ideal candidates have 5+ years in a supervisory or superintendent role, a relevant bachelor's degree, and strong communication with trade partners.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in a Superintendent or similar field role.
• Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, or related field.
• Strong understanding of commercial construction processes and safety.
• Excellent planning, scheduling, and organizational skills.
• Effective communication with clients, project teams, and trade partners.
• Ability to manage risk and support cost control efforts.

Responsibilities

• Assist in planning and coordinating short-term (2-4 week) jobsite activities and communicate plans with trade contractors
• Support development and maintenance of the project schedule, including three-week lookahead planning
• Monitor and support contractor performance to ensure alignment with project timelines and requirements
• Help facilitate timely approvals and documentation with architects, engineers, and governing authorities
• Uphold jobsite safety, quality, environmental standards, and cleanliness at all times
• Assist with project close-out and ensure all work is completed in accordance with company standards
• Maintain detailed daily reports documenting site activity, progress, and key events
• Track labor hours and submit trade hours and labor reports as required
• Participate in and help lead onsite coordination and progress meetings
