Job summary

Intertek is seeking a certified Field & Laboratory Technician I-B to support field and laboratory testing on construction materials in Harlingen, TX. This on-site role supports transportation, commercial, and infrastructure projects throughout the Rio Grande Valley.

The ideal candidate holds ACI Aggregate Testing Technician Level 1 and ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I, with experience testing aggregates, concrete and soils, and a strong commitment to safety and quality.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one (1) year of construction materials testing experience or related laboratory experience.
• ACI Aggregate Testing Technician - Level 1 Certification (Required).
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I Certification (Required).
• Experience performing field and laboratory testing of aggregates, concrete, soils, or related materials.
• Ability to document test data accurately.
• Valid driver's license with acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Perform field and laboratory testing on construction materials including concrete, aggregates, and soils.
• Conduct concrete field tests such as slump, air content, temperature, and cylinder fabrication.
• Perform aggregate testing in accordance with ACI, ASTM, and AASHTO standards.
• Support laboratory operations through testing procedures such as sieve analysis, moisture content, and specific gravity testing.
• Maintain testing equipment and accurately document and report results.

The ideal candidate will possess ACI Aggregate Testing Technician Level 1 and ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician Grade I certifications and have experience performing testing on aggregates, concrete, soils, and related construction materials. What You’ll Do

• As a Field & Laboratory Technician I-B, you will perform a combination of field and laboratory testing on construction materials including concrete, aggregates, and soils.
• Responsibilities include conducting concrete field testing such as slump, air content, temperature, and cylinder fabrication.
• Performing aggregate testing in accordance with ACI, ASTM, and AASHTO standards.
• Supporting laboratory operations through testing procedures such as sieve analysis, moisture content determination, specific gravity testing, and other materials evaluations.
• You will be responsible for maintaining testing equipment and laboratory instruments, accurately documenting and reporting test results, and communicating findings to project managers, clients, and project stakeholders.
• This position requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and technical excellence while supporting both field and laboratory operations to ensure materials meet project specifications and applicable industry standards.

• Minimum one (1) year of construction materials testing experience or related laboratory experience.
• ACI Aggregate Testing Technician - Level 1 Certification (Required).
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I Certification (Required).
• Experience performing both field and laboratory testing of aggregates, concrete, soils, or related construction materials.
• Ability to accurately collect, record, and report test data.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Valid driver's license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to travel locally to project sites as needed.
• Ability to lift up to 75 pounds and work in both laboratory and outdoor construction environments.

Preferred Qualifications

• TxDOT Level IA Certification.
• TxDOT Level IB Certification.
• Asphalt testing certifications and experience.
• Additional ACI, NICET, or TxDOT certifications.
• Two or more years of field and laboratory construction materials testing experience.
