Job summary

Pacific Northern Environmental LLC (PNE) is seeking a resilient Instrumentation & Controls Technician to join our fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The role emphasizes acceptance and maintenance testing of power distribution equipment and operation of test equipment, with substantial field startup and commissioning responsibilities across the Pacific Northwest.

Qualifications

• Valid driver’s license and able to travel up to 40% to job sites, predominantly in the Pacific Northwest.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation, electrical systems, and industrial control panels.
• Ability to read and understand P&IDs and PLC I/O schematics, relay logic, and signal flow.
• Understanding of motor control / VFD circuits.
• Experience with current versions of Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe.
• Excellent communication, written and verbal; highly organized and detail oriented.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with engineering and project management to clarify requirements and tasks.
• Receive and track instrumentation components through the shop workflow.
• Power up, calibrate, and test instrumentation components in the shop.
• Complete and maintain detailed calibration and test records.
• Conduct point-to-point and power-up testing of industrial control panels.
• Document control panel testing and redline drawings as needed.
• Demonstrate operation of control panels to customers during factory acceptance testing.
• Perform field startup and commissioning of instrumentation and control panels.
• Maintain documentation from field testing (I/O checkout, loop verification, readiness test).
• Provide onsite training on instrumentation and controls to customers.
• Assist with instrumentation selection, schedules, submittals and OMs.
• Minor PLC code modifications during field service or commissioning.
• Occasional onsite troubleshooting and field service support.
