Job summary

Pacific Northern Environmental LLC seeks an Instrumentation & Controls Technician to perform acceptance and maintenance testing of power distribution equipment and to operate test equipment in a fast-paced field environment.

Responsibilities include startup/testing of instrumentation, PLCs, and VFDs; troubleshooting; and occasional on-site training for customers, with travel up to 30% to Pacific Northwest sites.

Qualifications

• Technical/associate’s degree in Instrumentation, Automation, or related field.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel 30% to field sites.
• Strong knowledge of instrumentation, electrical systems and control panels.
• Ability to read and understand P&IDs.
• Experience with PLC I/O schematics, relay logic and signal flow.
• Understanding of motor control / VFD circuits.
• MS Office and Adobe familiarity.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; team oriented.

Responsibilities

• Travel to job sites up to 30% to perform start-up and testing of instrumentation, PLCs and VFDs.
• Identify problems, troubleshoot, and resolve issues in field and on panels.
• Provide onsite training on instrumentation and control components.
• Occasionally modify PLC code during start-up and commissioning.
• Document calibration/test results and redline drawings as needed.
• Collaborate with engineering/project teams and support shop activities.
• Ensure safety and quality standards are met during field work.
• Assist in fabricating back panels and routing wiring as required.
