Job summary

Pacific Northern Environmental LLC seeks a Field Service Technician to perform start-up and testing on instrumentation, VFDs, PLCs, and emergency lighting inverters at industrial sites. You will troubleshoot faults, work independently, and travel regionally as needed, with possible overtime.

Qualified candidates have an AAS in instrumentation or related field and 2–5 years’ experience, plus familiarity with VFDs, PLCs, DC drives, instrumentation, and UPS systems.

Qualifications

  • Previous employment involving troubleshooting of industrial devices.
  • AAS Degree in Instrumentation, mechatronics, or industrial electronics.
  • Understanding hazards around electrical circuits.
  • Customer relation and communication skills, report writing, self-starter mentality.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in similar field.
  • Familiarity and experience with VFDs, PLCs, DC Drives, Instrumentation (Flow sensors/meters, Level sensors/meters), UPSs, battery systems, lighting inverters.

Responsibilities

  • Perform start-up and testing on Instrumentation, VFDs, Emergency Lighting Inverters, PLCs, and other industrial control equipment.
  • Identify problems and troubleshoot failures in listed equipment.
  • Work independently when required.
  • Occasional overtime after hours and weekends per client needs; travel as needed.
  • Have reliable transportation to travel to office or customer sites; travel to out-of-area jobs up to two weeks.
  • Most work local but may involve Oregon, Washington or Idaho.

Job Summary

Taurus Power and Controls - a Pacific Northern Environmental LLC Company, is seeking a Field Service Technician who thrives in a fast-paced, team environment and has the ability to provide exceptional service to our company, clients, and employees.

Pacific Northern Environmental, LLC consists of five divisions including Advanced Electrical Technologies (AET), Taurus Power and Controls (Taurus), Cowlitz Clean Sweep (CCS), Pacific Northern Environmental Construction (PNEC), and WasteXpress Environmental (WXE). Together, we specialize in commercial and petroleum construction, industrial and commercial electrical, industrial cleaning, and hazardous waste disposal. PNE LLC is a multi-state organization with operating offices in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Hawaii. In addition, we carry out projects across the United States.

Since 1985, Taurus has been designing control systems, automating tasks, and fabricating control panels for industrial, municipal, and commercial customers-on time and on budget. Taurus is a NETA Accredited Company that offers full-service, third party, independent testing for all electrically powered systems and equipment. Being a 24/7 field service company remains at the core of what we do. We have expertise in a wide array of systems and industries, whether it’s servicing projects we developed, or systems built by others.

The Field Service Technician is responsible for having the Ability and knowledge to preform start-up and testing services on Instrumentation, VFD’s, Emergency Lighting Inverters, PLC's and other industrial control equipment

Education and Experience Qualifications

    • VFD’s
    • PLC’s
    • DC Drives
    • Instrumentation (Flow sensors/meters, Level sensors/meters, etc…)
    • UPS’s, battery systems, lighting inverters
Duties and Responsibilities

The Field Service Technician possessing the education and experience listed above performs the following:

  • Ability and knowledge to Preform Start-up and testing services on Instrumentation, VFD’s, Emergency Lighting Inverters, PLC's and other industrial control equipment
  • Identify problems as they arise and troubleshoot failure in the above mentioned items
  • Ability to work independently when required
  • Flexibility in working hours required: work is typically 8am - 5pm during the week but occasionally after hours and weekends is required by our customers. Overtime hours available.
  • Have reliable transportation to travel to and from office or a customer’s site
  • Flexibility to travel to out of area jobs for up to a two-week duration. Most of our work is local but occasionally work takes place at a customer’s site within Oregon, Washington, or Idaho.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

The candidate must possess and be adaptable to the following physical abilities and working conditions:

  • Move about the jobsite as needed.
  • Move work related equipment up to 50lbs.
  • Remain in a stationary position for long periods of time.
  • Operate various technological devices, including but not limited to a computer.
  • Occasionally ascend/descend ladders and/or stairs.
