Job summary

Brunel is seeking an Instrumentation & Controls Engineer in Baton Rouge, LA, to support pipeline operations and small capital projects. The role is ~70% Instrumentation & Controls and ~30% Electrical, with roughly 50% field work and up to 50% local travel within ~1 hour of site.

Responsibilities include PLC programming, HMI enhancements, control logic updates, and collaboration with operations and project teams. Requires a BE/EE degree and 2+ years in the field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, electrical drawings, and instrumentation diagrams.
• Experience with PLC programming and industrial automation systems.
• Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
• Comfortable working in field environments and partnering with operations teams.

Responsibilities

• Perform PLC programming, HMI enhancements, valve automation modifications, and control logic updates.
• Diagnose and resolve issues related to instrumentation, control systems, and electrical equipment.
• Provide engineering support for operations, maintenance activities, and small capital projects.
• Review engineering documentation, including P&IDs, instrumentation drawings, electrical drawings, and contractor deliverables.
• Work closely with operations personnel, contractors, and project teams to support project execution and facility reliability.
• Participate in field inspections, site assessments, and engineering review activities.
