Job summary

RL Controls is seeking a Field Installation & Service Technician to perform installations and testing of mass transit vehicle systems, including software/hardware upgrades and network components.

The role requires wiring, cable termination, conduit work, and ability to travel nationally for extended periods. Strong problem-solving, reading technical docs, and safety compliance are essential.

Qualifications

• Technical experience in engineering or field service within the mass transit industry.
• Ability to read, comprehend, and apply technical documentation, specifications, and schematics.
• Competence with hand and power tools, including calibrated tools and multimeters.
• Proficiency in wire termination, cabling, conduit work, and working around AC and DC high-voltage systems.
• Problem-solving skills, adaptability, and the capacity to manage multiple tasks effectively.
• Strong communication skills for completing reports and following both written and verbal instructions.
• Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs, work at heights up to 25 feet, and operate in confined spaces.
• Willingness to travel nationally for extended periods (valid driver's license required).

Responsibilities

• Completing hands-on installations, upgrades, and disassembly of vehicle systems.
• Performing system testing, integration, and troubleshooting as part of a project team.
• Conducting site surveys and attending site-specific meetings.
• Installing and commissioning wired and wireless low-voltage network solutions.
• Validating network functionality and documenting results.
• Adhering to OSHA, FRA, and RLC safety and PPE standards.
