Job summary

Therma-Tron-X, Inc. (TTX®) in Wisconsin seeks a skilled pipefitter to lay out and install piping for industrial finishing systems.

You will read schematics and detail drawings, layout with precise measurements, and join various piping materials using threaded, glued, flanged and welded connections. The role requires 5–10 years of pipefitting experience in industrial settings, high school diploma, and preferred apprenticeship or technical credential.

Qualifications

• Read and interpret schematics and detail drawings for layout, installation, and troubleshooting.
• Read and lay out with measuring tools (tape measures, levels, square, etc.).
• Perform cutting with band saw, cut off saw, plasma torch, and drill.
• Cut pipe threads and assemble pipe with appropriate methods.
• Safe use of powered lifts and ladders.
• Apply pipe cement and thread compounds correctly.
• Identify improper operation of installed plumbing systems.

Responsibilities

• Layout and install piping, fittings, valves, pumps, floats, heat exchangers and related equipment for finishing systems.
• Read and interpret plumbing schematics and detail drawings for accurate setup.
• Join PVC, CPVC, black steel, and stainless steel piping with threaded, glued, flanged and welded connections.

Description

Pipefitters are responsible for the practical layout and installation of piping, fittings, valves, pumps, floats, heat exchangers, tank penetrations and misc. system equipment for our industrial finishing systems. Pipefitters must be fluent and able to read and interpret plumbing schematics and detail drawings. Pipefitters must also be experienced with the fitting and joining of PVC, CPVC, black steel, and stainless-steel plumbing materials using threaded, glued, flanged and welded connections.

Required Skills

• Read and understand schematics and detail drawings for layout, installation and troubleshooting
• Read and do layout with tape measures, levels, square, dividers, rule, plumb bob, string lines, etc.
• Common cutting tools such as the band saw, cut off saw, hand plasma torch, tubing cutter, saws-all, hole saw, drill, etc.
• Cut pipe threads with hand and electric powered pipe thread cutting tools
• Use hand tools to assemble pipe
• Safe use of powered lifts and ladders
• Proper use of pipe cement, pipe thread compound, sealing tape etc.
• Identify and correct improper operation of installed plumbing systems

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to stand for a minimum of up to 10 hours per day, with frequent kneeling, squatting, crawling or climbing ladders.
• Frequent bending, twisting, reaching and grasping
• Frequently lift parts up to 50 lbs.
• Must have good eyesight with the ability to read drawings, small print, and see workpieces clearly

Qualifications

• High school diploma
• 5 – 10 years of pipefitting experience in an industrial or manufacturing environment
• Completion of a formal apprenticeship program or technical education certificate or degree preferred
• State license preferred

$25 - $32 an hour
