Job summary

Preferred Industrial Contractors, Inc. is seeking an experienced pipefitter for industrial construction and maintenance projects in Baytown, TX.

You will read blueprints, lay out, fabricate, and install piping systems, and collaborate with welders and boilermakers to complete installations. The role requires a high school diploma or GED, completion of a recognized pipefitting apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job training, and at least 3 years of pipefitting experience with knowledge of ASME,

Qualifications

  • HS diploma or GED required.
  • Completion of an approved pipefitting apprenticeship or equivalent on-the-job experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of pipefitting experience in industrial construction or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of pipefitting standards, practices, and industry codes (ASME, ANSI, API).

Responsibilities

  • Measure, cut, thread, groove, and bend pipes with hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
  • Lay out, fabricate, and install piping systems according to blueprints, isometric drawings, and specifications.
  • Install hangers, supports, valves, and related components.
  • Fit and align piping accurately for welders and perform bolting or mechanical connections.
  • Inspect, test, and repair installed systems for leaks and alignment.
  • Work with various pipe materials (carbon steel, stainless steel, chrome, alloy) and connection types (welded, flanged, threaded, and mechanical).
  • Read and interpret P&IDs, spool drawings, and field sketches.
  • Operate lifts, rigging equipment, and hand tools safely.
  • Follow all site safety rules, procedures, and confined space or hot work requirements.
  • Collaborate with welders, boilermakers, and other trades to complete system installations efficiently.

Work Schedule

40-60 hours/week, 10 hour shifts

Potential Overtime

10-20 hours/week
