Job summary

AmSpec Group in Port Reading, NJ is seeking an entry-level trainee inspector who will eventually perform basic field inspection and sampling, complete paperwork, and ensure samples are properly distributed while staying in touch with the office.

The role requires reading and following API/IFIA procedures, willingness to work 24/7 shifts, and ability to travel to refineries and terminals. Safety training will be provided.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or related experience in the industry.
• Ability to read, write and communicate in English.
• Basic math skills including measurements and unit conversions.
• Basic computer skills for word processing and spreadsheets.
• Must have unrestricted/valid driver's license and vehicle for transport.
• Willing to work flexible hours including overtime and shifts as needed.
• Comfort working in refinery/terminal environments.

Responsibilities

• Complete safety/orientation training to access customer facilities.
• Shadow senior inspector and learn basic inspection and sampling requirements.
• Follow API and IFIA procedures and company policies.
• Perform basic field inspection and sampling, measure product temperatures, and document results.
• Prepare and distribute field reports to vessels, terminals, and office.
• Maintain timely communications with office staff and adapt plans as needed.
• Other related tasks as directed by supervisor.
