Job summary

Consolidated Engineering Laboratories (CEL) in Aiea, HI seeks a Group 1 Inspector to join our field team. You will read plans, maintain field files, and verify compliance with building codes while collaborating with project managers and technicians on daily operations.

The role requires travel, weekends/overtime as needed, and strong communication. Certifications in ACI Grade 1 and ICC Reinforced Concrete support field inspections with CEL’s experienced team.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, a 4-year college degree in Earth Science or Engineering is a plus.
• Must be able and willing to work some weekends and occasional overtime.
• Must have strong communications skills and be computer savvy – (Word and Excel) and able to add and use Apps on a smart phone or tablet.
• Ability to read, analyze and interpret design plans and project instructions.
• Ability to write daily reports
• Must be willing to work out of town (travel).
• Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.
• Must be able to pass a background check for clearance to work on military installations.
• Must be able to check a vehicle for safety and change a spare tire.
• Ability to follow Construction Site Safety Precautions

Responsibilities

• Read and understand plans and specifications.
• Maintain an organized field file with data, reports and test sheets.
• Ensure adherence to current grading ordinances and building codes.
• Be detail-focused and continually learn technical skills.
• Stay up-to-date on projects via PMs and technicians/inspectors.
• Communicate daily with supervisor and PM about field operations; address on-site issues; prepare and review field paperwork, maps and test sheets; submit daily/weekly.
