Job summary

Illinois Department of Agriculture is hiring a Products & Standards Inspector Trainee to join a regional team serving Illinois. You will participate in a formal training program, inspect devices for weight and measure, and travel to gain hands-on experience while documenting activities.

The role requires residency in Lake County and a home-base HQ located in the region, with the ability to work from home as needed and travel for inspections.

Qualifications

• Two years of college with business/management/communications coursework.
• Experience testing commercially used devices preferred.
• Ability to follow established procedures and policies.

Responsibilities

• Participate in a six-to-twelve month training program in inspection methods.
• Travel for on-the-job training and perform records maintenance.
• Inspect devices and prepackaged commodities for weight, measure, or count.
• Investigate consumer complaints and educate buyers and sellers about rights.
