Job summary

County of Napa seeks a Field Inspection Supervisor to plan, organize and coordinate a team inspecting residential and non-residential buildings for compliance with state and county codes. You will provide technical guidance, interpret regulations, and resolve complex inspection issues.

Qualifications

• Four years of experience as a government agency building inspector, including lead supervisory responsibility.
• Equivalent to completion of the twelfth grade; college courses in inspection are highly desired.
• Valid certifications and licenses per California/state codes are required and maintained during employment.

Responsibilities

• Plan, organize, assign, supervise, and coordinate staff inspecting buildings for code compliance.
• Provide technical guidance, interpret building codes, and resolve inspection-related issues.
• Coordinate activities with contractors, architects, engineers, and the public.
• Develop staff, monitor workflow, and recommend policy improvements for efficiency.
• Represent the unit in absence of the Chief Building Official and promote customer service excellence.
