Job summary

TEKsystems in Decatur, IL is seeking an Infrastructure Field Engineer to assess, document, and deploy network infrastructure across multiple locations. You will perform site discoveries, rack and data center documentation, and hands‑on cabling support for upgrades and refresh projects.

The role requires strong networking knowledge, hardware installation experience, and the ability to travel extensively. This temporary onsite contract in Decatur, IL offers competitive hourly pay and comprehensive

Qualifications

• Experience with Cisco networking equipment.
• Copper and fiber optic cabling experience.
• Experience working in MDF, IDF, and data center environments.
• Knowledge of UPS, PDU, and power distribution systems.
• Experience supporting network cutovers and go-live events.
• Ability to read and create rack elevations and infrastructure diagrams.
• Experience using Visio or similar documentation tools.
• Familiarity with industrial or manufacturing environments.
• Understanding of OT/IT network environments.
• Strong written documentation and reporting skills.
• Ability to work independently in remote locations.
• OSHA, safety, or plant environment experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform site assessments across locations.
• Document rack layouts and network infrastructure.
• Install and test network cabling.
• Support rack and stack activities.
• Troubleshoot connectivity issues.
