Job summary

Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services seeks an OPS Agricultural Technician II to oversee chemical treatment of invasive plants affecting forest management. Primary duties include mixing and applying herbicides with various sprayers and maintaining spray equipment.

The role requires a high school diploma or equivalent and a valid Class E license; candidates should be comfortable working in hot, humid forests and learning to identify plant species on site.

Qualifications

• Requires a high school diploma or its equivalent.
• Possesses a valid Class E driver license.
• Experience with chemical herbicides is preferred.
• Ability to identify plant species and work in challenging field conditions.

Responsibilities

• Chemically treat invasive plants to support forest management.
• Mix and apply herbicides using hand sprayers, backpacks, ATV or truck tanks.
• Perform routine maintenance and repair of vehicles and spray equipment.
• Work in hot, humid forest environments and remote field locations.
