Job summary

Scales Sales and Service in Omaha, NE is seeking a dependable Heavy-Duty Scale Technician to install, calibrate, and repair truck scales and industrial weighing systems at customer sites across Nebraska. This role blends mechanical, electrical, and hands‑on field service skills in a dynamic outdoor environment.

You will travel regionally, work independently, document service activity, and ensure compliance with industry standards.

Qualifications

• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple service calls.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record.
• CDL (Class A or B) with Air Brake Endorsement, or willingness to obtain one.
• Ability to lift up to 100 pounds.
• Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Willingness to travel regionally with occasional overnight stays.
• Basic computer skills for service documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, inspect, maintain, and repair truck scales and industrial weighing systems.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, electronic, and software-related issues.
• Perform preventative maintenance to maximize equipment reliability and minimize downtime.
• Conduct calibrations using certified test weights and specialized testing equipment.
• Ensure weighing systems comply with industry standards and regulations.
• Complete accurate service reports and calibration certificates.
• Communicate repair recommendations and technical information clearly with customers.
• Safely operate company vehicles, forklifts, skid steers, and other job-site machinery.
• Maintain tools, equipment, and service vehicle.
• Follow OSHA, DOT, and company safety procedures.
• Travel throughout the Omaha NE area and surrounding regions.
• Occasional after-hours or weekend service calls as needed.
