Job Summary:

This position is responsible for repairing construction machines, component assemblies, and parts both in the shop and in the field. Responsibilities include diagnosing issues, ordering parts, writing technical reports, warranty reporting, maintaining company assets, and effective communication with team members.

Responsibilities:
  1. Repair equipment and components, including:
    1. Developing a repair plan and sequence
    2. Determining necessary parts, materials, tooling, etc.
    3. Performing repairs safely and correctly, with proper quality assurance testing of the repaired component, system, or machine
  2. Maintain and complete all necessary reports legibly and promptly for parts ordering, tooling usage, daily service reports, and work order closure
  3. Communicate repair progress with the supervisor as required
  4. Retrieve and return parts and materials through the company's parts ordering system
  5. Handle special tools through the company's Tool Room, maintaining proper care and use of tools and major shop equipment
  6. Use company vehicle, service truck, and fuel cards responsibly
  7. Keep work area and service vehicle clean and safe
  8. Maintain tools and equipment in a safe and updated manner
  9. Follow all company policies and safety guidelines
  10. Perform additional tasks as assigned by the manager
Education, Experience, and Skills:

High School Diploma or G.E.D. equivalent, or an Associate Degree in Diesel or Equipment Technology, or four (4) years of apprenticeship experience. Technician classification depends on experience, knowledge, and competence.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to sit, stand, walk, and use hands for handling and feeling. Also, reach, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, lift, crouch, crawl, talk, and hear. Reasonable accommodations can be made for individuals with disabilities.

Work Environment:

Frequent exposure to wet/humid conditions and moving mechanical parts. Occasionally exposed to fumes, airborne particles, outdoor weather, extreme cold/heat, and vibration. Noise level is moderate to loud.
