Job summary

Turner Staffing Group is seeking a project-based Geotechnician to support field geology, drilling, surveying, and ore control activities in Tok, Alaska. The role involves safe collection of drill samples and assisting field teams with geologic mapping, survey staking, and related tasks.

Local candidates are preferred and the work is outdoors in remote field conditions. Experience with drill sample handling and GPS equipment is a plus; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and work independently

Qualifications

• Experience in labor, construction, mining, exploration, or similar field preferred.
• Experience safely using hand and power tools.
• Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work on uneven terrain.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
• Must be authorized to work in the United States without current or future visa sponsorship.

Responsibilities

• Safely collect, organize, label, and handle drill samples.
• Conduct drill pad inspections and report field conditions.
• Assist survey crews with staking and other field support activities.
• Support geology teams with mapping and ore control work.
• Use a Brunton compass or similar field equipment.
• Operate hand and power tools safely and effectively.
• Communicate with contractors, supervisors, and project personnel.
• Follow established safety procedures and project requirements.
• Maintain accurate field records and complete assigned work with minimal supervision.
• Perform physically demanding work in outdoor and remote field conditions.
