Job summary

Stantec seeks a Staff Geologist or Field Scientist to support environmental site assessment and remediation projects. The role blends office and fieldwork with approximately 70% field responsibilities, involving drilling supervision, sample collection, and health and safety leadership in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties.

The position requires BS/MS in geology or environmental science, GIS experience (Esri Field Maps, Survey123), and 3 years’ related experience; OSHA HAZWOPER 40-hour preferred.

Qualifications

• BS and/or MS in Geology, Environmental Science, or related discipline.
• Professional registration or license, or interest in obtaining professional licensure is a plus.
• 3 years of relevant experience in site investigation, remediation, or environmental consulting, preferred.
• Familiarity with GIS data collection applications such as Esri Field Maps and Survey123.

Responsibilities

• Manage multiple tasks simultaneously with adherence to the approved scope, budget and schedule.
• Communicate daily with the project team and clients as needed.
• Assist with the implementation of complex site assessment and remediation projects with multi-person project teams.
• Perform pre-field preparation for on-site projects including development of health and safety documents, coordinating with subcontractors, procuring field supplies, and obtaining permits.
• Conduct fieldwork (about 70% work) in variable conditions; lead tailgate health and safety meetings, coordinate utility clearance, supervise drilling activities, prepare logs and collect samples.
• Support environmental and other related site assessment and remediation projects in the office with data management, interpretation, and technical assistance.
• Support quality control programs by QA/QC reviews of fieldwork programs and reports.
• Prepare technical reports presenting key findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Assist the PM in managing multiple projects to meet scope/budget/schedule and ensure quality.
• Develop understanding of Stantec’s other consulting practice areas and cross-sell services.
• Assist with development, tracking, updates, forecasting and modification of project schedules and budgets.
• Assist the PM with review and tracking of project invoices from contractors and vendors.
