Job summary

Stantec in Chandler, AZ is seeking a Staff Level Geologist or Scientist to support site investigation and remediation projects, including due diligence assessments for contaminants such as solvents, petroleum hydrocarbons, and metals in the oil/gas and manufacturing industries.

The role emphasizes field data collection (about 80%), logging soil/rock cores, groundwater and soil gas sampling, aquifer testing, and preparing reports that summarize findings and recommendations.

Responsibilities

• Field data collection and analysis (about 80% work).
• Log soils and rock cores from subsurface explorations, including installing monitoring and remediation wells.
• Soil, groundwater, surface water and air/soil gas sampling for analyses.
• Performing aquifer testing and groundwater flow evaluations.
• Remedial system data collection and operation and maintenance, including pilot testing.
• Environmental site assessments, including Phase I and II ESAs, and environmental audits.
• Data compilation, boring log and well construction log generation, and report generation presenting key findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Manage multiple task requests simultaneously with adherence to scope, budget and schedule.
• Communicate daily with the project team and clients as needed.
• Oversee complex site assessment and remediation projects with multi-person teams.
• Pre-field preparation including health and safety documents, coordinating with subcontractors, and obtaining permits.
• Assist in management of multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on deliverables.
• Develop understanding of Stantec’s other consulting practice areas and support cross-selling services to clients.
• Assist with review and tracking of project invoices from contractors and vendors.
• Other related duties as assigned by Stantec multi-discipline teams.
• Report to Senior Project Manager or Senior Technical Lead.

An opportunity exists in our Chandler office for a Staff Level Geologist or Scientist to support our team of professionals on a variety of site investigation and remediation projects, due diligence assessments with contamination by materials such as solvents, petroleum hydrocarbons, and metals, primarily within the oil/gas and manufacturing industries.

Your Key Responsibilities

• Field data collection and analysis (about 80% work), including:
  • Loggings soil and rock core from subsurface explorations, including installing monitoring and remediation wells;
  • Soil, groundwater, surface water and air/soil gas sampling for analytical analysis;
  • Performing aquifer testing and groundwater flow evaluations;
  • Remedial system data collection and operation and maintenance, including pilot testing;
  • Environmental site assessments, including Phase I and II ESAs, and environmental audits.
• Data compilation, boring log and well construction log generation, and report generation presenting key findings, conclusions, and recommendations.
• Assuring the quality of work and product deliverables and achievement of project objectives:
• Manage multiple task requests simultaneously. Adherence to the approved scope, budget and schedule are imperative.
• Communicate daily with the project team and clients as needed.
• Oversee complex site assessment and remediation projects with multi-person project teams.
• Perform pre-field preparation for on-site projects including development of health and safety documents, coordinating with subcontractors, and obtaining permits.
• Assist in the management of multiple projects within scope/budget/schedule expectations and ensure quality standards on project deliverables.
