Generator Supercenter is hiring a dependable Generator Mechanic / Service Technician to join our field team in Wheeling, IL. The role focuses on whole-home standby generators, including diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs at residential job sites using a company vehicle.

The ideal candidate has 1+ years in generator service or related mechanical/electrical work, strong customer service, and the ability to read schematics and manuals.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of generator service, small engine repair, or related mechanical/electrical work.
• Strong customer service and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams, and service manuals.
• Comfortable working independently in the field with minimal supervision.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Physically able to perform duties, including climbing ladders, lifting equipment and working outdoors.
• Familiarity with residential generator systems and ATS technology is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Travel to residential job sites using a company-provided service vehicle.
• Perform diagnostics, routine maintenance, and repairs on whole-home standby generators.
• Troubleshoot and service mechanical and electrical components, including ATS systems.
• Read and interpret electrical wiring diagrams, blueprints, and technical manuals.
• Clearly communicate with customers regarding services performed and any recommendations.
• Accurately document all work in our service management software.
• Follow safety protocols and industry best practices when working around electricity.
• Support emergency service calls during weather-related outages or storms, as needed.
