Job summary

Portland General Electric is hiring two Associate Foresters to support vegetation management across the Sunset and Salem regions in Oregon. The role includes safety audits, field inspections, and coordinating contracted crews to complete vegetation clearance while prioritizing outages and restoration needs.

You will work with regional engineering teams, document findings in Quickbase, and ensure compliance with applicable regulations.

Qualifications

• Requires a bachelor's degree in earth science, horticulture, geology, forestry, natural resources or similar field or equivalent experience.
• Two+ years in tree trimming, arborist work, nursery work or related field including vendor management and project management.
• ISA Arborist certification required at hire; ISA Certified Utility Arborist and Oregon pesticide consultant certifications within six months.

Responsibilities

• Performs safety audits and scoping to prioritize vegetation work.
• Plans and organizes vegetation clearance activities and schedules work assignments.
• Reviews contract crew performance and monitors productivity.
• Represents Forestry to contractors and coordinates herbicide applications.
• Coordinates vegetation clearance with line restoration crews during emergencies.
• Ensures compliance with standards, regulations and agreements.
