Our Material Handling Group is seeking a full-time Forklift Field Service Technician / Mechanic for our East Providence, RI branch. This is first shift, Monday to Friday, hourly (no flat rate!). Technicians receive a company service van (driven home), fuel card, and are responsible for maintaining and repairing customer forklifts and material handling equipment.

The primary responsibilities include:

• Performing preventative maintenance
• Diagnosing and repairing equipment
• Completing repairs efficiently and professionally
• Providing excellent customer service
• Managing workload independently
• Completing and submitting all required paperwork
• Managing company vehicle and parts inventory
• Incorporating Alta's Guiding Principles into daily activities
• Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications include:

• Two years of forklift repair experience preferred, including military, Guard, or Reserve experience with MOS or NEC codes such as 63B, 63H, 63S, 63W, 63Y, 91B, 91H, 91L, 91M, or CM
• Previous field experience preferred
• Strong knowledge of electric and liquid propane units
• Excellent mechanical skills
• Own tools required
• Valid driver’s license and clean driving record
• Experience with HYPASS, Hyster TKC software, and Yale/Hyster systems
• Intermediate reading, writing, and speaking skills in English
• Basic arithmetic skills
• Intermediate reasoning ability

Physical demands and work environment:

• Standing, walking, using hands, reaching, talking, hearing, sitting, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling
• Lift up to 10 lbs regularly; 11-25 lbs frequently; 26-100+ lbs occasionally
• Work near moving mechanical parts; exposure to fumes, outdoor weather, humidity, extreme cold/heat, electrical shock, vibration
