Job summary

The City of Modesto seeks an Equipment Service Technician to inspect, service, and perform minor repairs on a wide variety of vehicles and equipment supporting essential community services.

Responsibilities include fueling, greasing, battery service, inspections, and basic repairs, with a focus on safety and proper record-keeping. A valid CA Class B license with endorsements is required within 60 days.

Qualifications

• One year of related automotive servicing experience.
• High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• Class B Commercial California driver’s license with endorsements within 60 days.

Responsibilities

• Inspect, service, and perform minor repairs on vehicles and equipment used in city services.
• Fuel, grease, and lubricate autos and heavy equipment; service batteries and parts.
• Perform safety inspections and report required repairs to supervisor.
• Maintain records and assist in shop organization and cleanliness.
• Assist mechanics with advanced repairs as needed.
