Job summary

Union Pacific Railroad's Engineering team is seeking a Work Equipment Mechanic to maintain and restore tools, equipment, and machinery across the department. You will ensure safety, accuracy, and reliability while supporting North American freight operations.

The role requires a valid driver’s license, mechanical experience, and the ability to read schematics, perform precise measurements, and use high- and low-precision tools. A Journeyman's card or related degree strengthens candidacy.

Qualifications

  • Must have valid driver's license and be able to operate vehicles.
  • Proficient computer literacy and basic keyboarding.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow safety rules and work safely.
  • Ability to read and interpret measurements with precision.
  • Ability to read electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic schematics.

Responsibilities

  • Inspect and maintain tools, roadway machines, vehicles, and equipment.
  • Perform maintenance, repairs, and troubleshoot malfunctions.
  • Coordinate work and communicate with team members effectively.
  • Adhere to safety rules and regulations; follow FRA requirements.
