State of Indiana is seeking an epidemiologist for the IDOH Infectious Disease Epidemiology and Prevention Division. The role supports District 2 with field travel and on-call coverage 24/7/365. The salary starts at $67,314 annually, with compensation calculated based on education and experience.

Responsibilities include surveillance, investigations, data analysis, reports, and stakeholder communication. A degree is not required, but extensive public health experience is highly valued.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of epidemiology and biology of diseases and public health topics.
• Ability to conduct surveillance and epidemiologic investigations.
• Experience communicating with local health departments and partners.
• Proficiency with data analysis and statistical software.

Responsibilities

• Maintain current subject matter knowledge of diseases and public health topics.
• Provide epidemiologic consultation to local health departments and partners.
• Conduct routine epidemiologic surveillance for diseases and topics.
• Lead investigations of individual cases and outbreaks.
• Design descriptive and analytical epidemiologic studies.
• Manage and analyze data from surveillance and investigations.
• Prepare written/oral reports for internal and external partners.
• Deliver educational presentations to diverse audiences.
• Engage with the public at health events and outreach activities.
• Assist with grant writing and funding proposals.
• Serve as backup to other staff; after-hours on-call may occur.
