Job summary

WSP seeks an Environmental Technician to support environmental operations in the Cheyenne, WY area. The role emphasizes field work on remediation systems, equipment maintenance, and data collection, with travel to nearby sites and strong teamwork with senior staff.

The ideal candidate has solid mechanical and electrical skills, good written and verbal communication, and a willingness to learn new systems. Flexible hours and a valid driving record are required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 3+ years of experience in construction, equipment operation and maintenance or remediation system maintenance.
• Good mechanical and electrical skills.
• Self-starter with ability to work independently with minimal supervision, as well as collaboratively in a team.
• Good communicator to detail and explain issues and concerns with equipment to team members.
• Flexible to work outside normal business hours as required.
• Ability to follow procedural manuals and execute work orders.
• Attention to detail.
• Ability to follow directions.
• Must pass physical, background check and have satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Work under supervision of a Senior Environmental Scientist.
• Travel to project sites in greater Cheyenne, WY area using a WSP vehicle; ~95% field work; ~90% no hotel stay.
• Operate and maintain remediation systems (groundwater and soil) in WY and northern CO; troubleshoot equipment.
• Assist in site characterization and monitoring efforts including collecting soil, groundwater and air samples.
• Prepare accurate daily field reports and documentation.
• Coordinate with outside vendors and subcontractors to obtain spare parts, chemicals, and sampling kits.
• Proactively plan maintenance and schedule tasks across sites to meet compliance.
