Job summary

TRC Companies, Inc. is seeking a Staff Level Scientist, Geologist, or Engineer to join our Environmental Engineering, Construction and Remediation Practice in Cary, North Carolina. The role involves field tasks and site investigations to support remediation and closure under state regulations.

You will assist in preparing technical documents, proposals, and work plans while collaborating with project teams. A 0–5 year background in environmental consulting is typical for this role.

Qualifications

• B.S. Degree in Geology, Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or other related disciplines.
• 0–5 years in environmental consulting/engineering focusing on investigation and remediation.
• Experience interpreting regulations in NC, SC, VA, GA.
• Professional Geologist or Professional Engineer license a plus.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable motor vehicle record required.
• 40-hr HAZWOPER certification preferred but not required.
• Pre-employment drug screen, background check, and MVR check required.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field tasks such as soil, groundwater, soil gas and indoor air monitoring, stormwater and surface water sampling.
• Assist with preparation of technical documents, project proposals, work plans, and project specifications.
• Work with project staff through site assessment, remediation strategy development, and closure attainment under state regulations.
• Perform a variety of field activities including environmental assessments, investigations, site inspections, feasibility tests, remedial implementation, and subcontractor oversight.
• Support development of proposals and financial management of projects.
• Other duties as assigned.
