Job summary

ERM seeks a Consulting Associate (Environmental Engineer/Geologist/Scientist) in Raleigh or Charlotte, NC. You will tackle site investigation, remediation, compliance, and hazardous waste management, gaining hands-on field experience within a global team.

You’ll work with ERM’s technical experts, contribute to cutting‑edge strategies, and pursue professional registration while making a measurable impact from day one.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, engineering, environmental science, or related field; Master’s degree a plus. Or equivalent experience.
• Recent graduate to 2 years of relevant experience.
• Strong interest in fieldwork; ability to stand or walk for full field days.
• Commitment to safety and adherence to Health & Safety protocols.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to produce clear technical notes and reports.

Responsibilities

• Conduct soil, groundwater, surface water, sediment, soil vapor, and indoor air sampling.
• Perform aquifer testing, drilling oversight, soil logging, well installation, development, purging, and sampling.
• Support remedial and wastewater treatment pilot testing and remedial system operation and maintenance.
• Assist in groundwater and wastewater system performance monitoring.
• Perform Phase I and II environmental assessments.
• Compile, assess, and interpret environmental data; support preparation of technical reports.
• Prepare environmental compliance work plans, permits, and reporting for air quality, hazardous waste, spill prevention, stormwater, and wastewater.
• Help ensure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Work within scheduled scope, budget, and quality parameters.
• Communicate effectively with subcontractors, regulators, tenants, and clients during field activities.
