Job summary

Actalent is seeking an Environmental Specialist for a full-time contract role at a refinery in Billings, MT. You will collect environmental samples, support waste management, oversee cleanup, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance on-site.

Responsibilities include performing inspections, maintaining QA/QC data, and coordinating with plant personnel to drive environmental improvements. The role is on-site with a competitive hourly pay and benefits package.

Qualifications

• Experience in field environmental safety at a refinery.
• Hands-on experience with environmental sampling and sample collection procedures.
• Operate and maintain laboratory and sampling equipment safely and effectively.
• Knowledge of QA/QC practices related to environmental sampling and data integrity.
• Experience conducting environmental inspections in an industrial or refinery setting.
• Strong attention to detail in samples, documentation and waste management data.
• Ability to oversee cleanup and spill response activities in a plant environment.
• Effective communication with plant personnel to report findings.
• Strong organizational skills for samples, records and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Collect environmental samples in the field according to safety and quality procedures.
• Deliver collected samples to the laboratory in a timely and compliant manner.
• Maintain and prepare sample kits for special environmental projects.
• Maintain accurate waste management data and oversee waste handling and tracking.
• Conduct routine environmental inspections throughout the refinery.
• Perform plant walkthroughs to monitor environmental and safety conditions.
• Oversee cleanup activities and spill response with proper documentation.
• Use and maintain laboratory and sampling equipment per safety standards.
• Document inspection results, sampling activities, and corrective actions clearly.
