Job summary

NiSource Inc. is seeking an Environmental Inspector 2 to support environmental compliance for electric and gas construction projects. The role involves reviewing plans, conducting site inspections, documenting findings, and guiding project teams on permits and best practices.

Independent fieldwork with regular regional travel and occasional after-hours work is expected. Qualified candidates have an associate degree in a related field, 3+ years of inspection experience, and the ability to obtain

Qualifications

Associate degree in Environmental Science or equivalent work experience.
3+ years of environmental or stormwater inspection experience.
Ability to obtain and maintain environmental certifications and NiSource qualifications.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel.
Knowledge of environmental compliance, permitting, erosion and sediment control, restoration, and utility construction practices.
Ability to interpret project plans and use Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

Review environmental compliance plans and provide input during planning, bid, and construction activities.
Conduct and document inspections and audits with reports and required certifications.
Evaluate erosion controls, water resources, and restoration activities for compliance.
Identify noncompliance and coordinate corrective actions and responses.
Travel to project sites and communicate findings to stakeholders and teams.
Maintain documentation and credentials; support continuous improvement.
