Job summary

NiSource Environmental Inspector 2 supports environmental compliance for electric and gas construction projects. The role reviews plans, conducts site inspections, and advises teams on permits and restoration. Regular travel within the region and occasional overnight work are required.

The candidate should have an associate degree in an environmental field and 3+ years of inspection experience, with certifications and a valid driver's license. Proficiency in MS Office is expected.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent in environmental field.
• 3+ years of environmental or stormwater inspection experience.
• Ability to obtain required environmental certifications and state credentials.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Knowledge of permitting, erosion control, restoration, and utility construction.

Responsibilities

• Review environmental compliance plans and provide input during planning and construction.
• Conduct inspections and audits; document observations and required certifications.
• Evaluate erosion controls, water resource crossings, and restoration activities.
• Identify noncompliance and coordinate corrective actions with teams.
• Travel to project sites and communicate findings to stakeholders.
