Job summary

NiSource Inc. in the United States is seeking an Environmental Inspector 2 to support environmental compliance for electric and gas construction projects. The role reviews plans, conducts site inspections, documents findings, and advises project teams on permits and best practices.

Travel within the region and occasional work outside normal hours are expected. The candidate should have an Associate degree or equivalent, 3+ years in inspection, and the ability to obtain required certifications.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or equivalent work experience in environmental science or related field.
• At least 3 years in environmental or stormwater inspection.
• Ability to obtain required certifications.
• Valid driver's license and travel ability.
• Knowledge of environmental compliance, permits, erosion control, and utility construction.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and related technology.

Responsibilities

• Review environmental compliance plans and provide input during planning and construction.
• Conduct and document inspections and audits with reports and certifications.
• Evaluate erosion controls, water crossings, and restoration activities for compliance.
• Identify noncompliance and coordinate corrective actions.
• Monitor soil, water, waste, and restoration materials, including sampling results.
• Communicate findings to stakeholders and provide guidance.
• Maintain document control and credentials.
• Travel to project sites and provide coverage including overnight when required.
