Job summary

Walworth County is seeking a field-based Environmental Health Specialist to protect public health by overseeing environmental health programs, conducting inspections, and coordinating laboratory operations across the county. The role ensures compliance with state statutes and local ordinances while engaging with community stakeholders.

The ideal candidate holds a bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health, has lab experience, and understands Trauma Informed Care principles.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Health or related field with 1 year of related experience; 80 lab hours required.
Ability to perform arithmetic, interpret bar graphs, and basic statistics.
Knowledge of Trauma Informed Care Principles is essential.

Responsibilities

Provide ongoing assessment of environmental issues and manage the county’s environmental health program.
Maintain water laboratory operations including training, certification, scheduling, and recordkeeping.
Investigate complaints, perform inspections and issue reports with corrective action recommendations.
Conduct recreational water monitoring and participate in emergency preparedness training.
Develop internship experiences and coordinate with area universities.
