Actalent is seeking an Environmental Engineer for a Detroit, MI contract-to-hire role focused on field investigations and data analysis. You will handle soil and groundwater sampling, regulatory compliance, and Phase I/II support while producing technical reports and aiding remediation efforts.

The position blends field and office work with opportunities to grow across environmental projects and regulatory programs. Team collaboration and safe, compliant project delivery are priorities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Engineering, Civil Engineering, or closely related field.
• 3 to 6 years of relevant environmental or engineering experience including field work.
• Experience with environmental field sampling: soil, groundwater, air, stormwater.
• Ability to produce clear, defensible technical reports and regulatory submittals.
• Knowledge of EGLE regulations and air quality considerations.
• Proficient in MS Office; experience with GIS and data platforms.

Responsibilities

• Conduct field sampling (soil, groundwater, stormwater, air, soil gas) with high data quality.
• Perform environmental compliance inspections at various sites per regulations.
• Support Phase I/II assessments, remediation, and compliance activities.
• Prepare regulatory applications and documentation for permits.
• Write clear, defensible technical reports and data interpretations.
• Assist with vapor mitigation and remediation system design and oversight.
• Coordinate with project managers and subcontractors to meet deadlines.
• Utilize environmental data platforms to organize and present results.
