Notre Dame is offering a 12-week internship focused on safety, surveying, estimating, project supervision, and field engineering. You will gain hands-on experience with Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Hazard Safety Observations (HSO), and proper PPE usage in active field settings.

The program emphasizes learning to read plans, conduct basic surveying for quantities, assess required man-hours and materials, and effectively communicate plans to field crews.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Construction Science/Management, or related 4-year degree program.
• Ability to communicate in English verbally and in writing.
• Moderate to high computer skills in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Outlook.
• Manual dexterity sufficient to reach, handle items, and work with fingers.

Responsibilities

• Provide on-hand support across Safety, Survey/Estimating, Project Supervision, and Field Engineering during a 12-week internship program.
• Gain understanding of Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) and Hazard Safety Observations (HSO).
• Apply necessary Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) for jobsite activities.
• Observe and help prevent safety incidents.
• Conduct jobsite audits.
• Learn to interpret plans and set layouts.
• Understand surveying for quantities and accurate surveying practices.
• Assess man-hours and materials needed for production.
• Communicate and delegate work plans to field crews.
