Job summary

The City of Los Angeles is seeking a Field Engineering Aide (Field Survey) to support sub-professional land surveying tasks. The role will involve operating GPS receivers and surveying equipment, potentially climbing fences and working in confined spaces, with training on Data Collectors as needed.

Applicants should have a high school education with math courses or college surveying coursework and at least one year of surveying experience.

Qualifications

• Successful completion of high school or college-level courses in algebra, geometry, trigonometry and 3 semester or 4 quarter units in plane surveying, and one course in drafting or computer aided drafting; or
• One year of full-time paid experience as a member of a survey party.

Responsibilities

• Perform sub-professional land surveying work or work with engineering personnel.
• May climb fences, work in confined spaces, around hot asphalt, and carry surveying equipment long distances.
• May operate Data Collectors and set up GPS receivers.
