Job summary

Lane Construction is seeking a Field Engineer to support a major highway project in Hampton, VA. You will gain hands-on experience in field and office settings, working with experienced professionals to deliver safe, efficient infrastructure.

The Field Engineer Development Program (FEDP) spans two years, offering structured technical and leadership training, mentorship, and exposure to estimating, scheduling, and project controls. Bachelor's in Civil Engineering or related field required.

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Ability to work effectively in both field and office environments.

Responsibilities

• Managing both office and field responsibilities to support project requirements, including implementation of scheduled work and tracking project data.
• Assisting with project scheduling and planning activities.
• Preparing cost and time estimates to help meet project budgets and deadlines.
• Performing quantity take-offs.
• Preparing and managing submittals.
• Assisting with surveying and layout activities.
• Tracking job quantities, production rates, and project costs.
• Identifying discrepancies between design plans and field conditions and communicating solutions.
• Coordinating with third-party utility providers to ensure utilities are properly identified and located before construction activities begin.
• Supporting project teams with additional duties as assigned.

What You'll Do
