Job summary

Lane Construction is seeking a Field Engineer for a major highway project in South Carolina. This entry-level role blends field and office work to develop core civil engineering skills, with emphasis on safety, scheduling, takeoffs, and submittals under experienced mentors.

The 2-Year Field Engineer Development Program (FEDP) accelerates growth through hands-on project exposure, formal training, and guidance toward future project management and leadership opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in both field and office environments.
  • Commitment to safety, teamwork, and operational excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Managing both office and field responsibilities to support project requirements, including implementation of scheduled work and tracking project data.
  • Assisting with project scheduling and planning activities.
  • Preparing cost and time estimates to help meet project budgets and deadlines.
  • Performing quantity take-offs.
  • Preparing and managing submittals.
  • Assisting with surveying and layout activities.
  • Tracking job quantities, production rates, and project costs.
  • Identifying discrepancies between design plans and field conditions and communicating solutions.
  • Coordinating with third-party utility providers to ensure utilities are properly identified and located before construction activities begin.
  • Supporting project teams with additional duties as assigned.

What You'll Do
