Job summary

Benchmark Utility Services is a premier design-build, site and underground utility construction firm with a decade of experience delivering over 500 projects. The Field Engineer will perform precise site surveys, verify installed utilities, and draft accurate as-built drawings while coordinating with project management and field teams to ensure quality and on-time delivery.

Ideal candidates have a Civil Engineering or related degree, strong CAD skills (AutoCAD, Civil 3D), survey equipment

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field (or enrolled in a related program).
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and CAD/drafting tools.
• Experience with survey equipment (GPS, total station, data collectors).
• Strong communication, coordination, and documentation skills.
• Willingness to travel and work outdoors on active construction sites.
• 2+ years in utility construction, field engineering, or surveying.

Responsibilities

• Conduct precise field surveys of utilities and structures using GPS and total station.
• Draft and update as-built drawings; escalate discrepancies.
• Inspect materials and workmanship to meet quality standards.
• Track daily construction activities and compare against goals.
• Provide daily production reports and assist in schedule adjustments.
• Coordinate daily with field teams to resolve issues.
• Perform quality and safety inspections and notify teams of deficiencies.
• Prepare end-of-day reports summarizing progress and schedule status.
• Maintain current field documentation and redlines.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
