Project Overview:

The rapid growth of AI and digitalization is driving unprecedented demand for data centers that require large, reliable sources of energy. In response, the Renewables & Clean Power (R&CP) team have signed the EPC contract for the Cheyenne Power Hub Project, one of the largest gas-fired power generation facilities in the United States.


The candidate will act as the Piping Field Engineer supporting the Aeros and Fuel Cells area on the Cheyenne Power Hub CCGT Project in Cheyenne, Wyoming.


Job Summary:

The Piping Field Engineer performs construction engineering within the piping discipline for the assigned Aeros and Fuel Cells area, including interpreting piping drawings and specifications, supporting piping installation and fabrication, field verification of materials, and technical support to superintendents and craft professionals. #LI-RM1


Major Responsibilities:

Work Planning & Packaging


  • Prepares construction drawings, sketches, and installation work packages, and assists in planning construction methods, installation sequence, and resource loading.

  • Prepares field change documents and RFIs and assists in preparing workforce, material, and equipment schedules.


Material Management


  • Initiates requisitions and quantity takeoffs for field purchased material, inspects and issues material to craft professionals, and tracks purchases in procurement systems.

  • Reviews subcontractor and vendor submittals for conformance and coordinates responses to RFIs.


Quantities


  • Verifies commodities on quantity tracking systems, validates installation through inspection, and tracks subcontract progress for schedule and cost reporting.


Safety / Quality Control


  • Ensures zero accident philosophy and requirements are adhered to in the operational area, and reviews design documents and model data for readiness for safe construction.

  • Verifies material quality and workmanship against codes, specifications, and drawings, and performs inspections and prepares test plans, inspection reports, and non-conformance reports.

  • Monitors delivery, storage, and installation of materials and equipment to assure conformance and environmental protection.


Technical


  • Supports superintendents, foremen, and craft professionals in interpreting design and vendor documents, and coordinates engineering solutions and constructability issues with design.

  • Conducts equipment tests, prepares test plans and records, and records installed components for acceptance.

  • Drafts change notices, extra work orders, and back charge notices, facilitates commodity installation means and methods, and ensures compliance with industry and international codes and standards


Education and Experience Requirements:


  • Requires bachelor's degree (or international equivalent) and 2-5 years of relevant experience or 6-9 years of relevant work experience


Required Knowledge and Skills:


  • Maintain, promote, and cultivate a safe work ethic and work environment within the craft.

  • Knowledge of piping construction, including above and below ground systems, pipe hangers, inline components, and line testing.

  • Working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.

  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheets, and database applications, with excellent communication and problem-solving ability.

  • Able to walk the jobsite on uneven surfaces, climb ladders and scaffolding, and use standard issued PPE.

  • Able to work extended schedules and night shift as required.


Preferred Knowledge and Skills:


  • Experience on combined cycle facilities.

  • Knowledge of piping and pipe rack modularization.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams.
