Job summary

The Weitz Company is seeking a Field Engineer to join our West Palm Beach team. This role will assist in supervising field work and coordinating with subcontractors under the direction of the Superintendent.

This is a strong path toward a future Superintendent role. You should have 1–2 years of related construction experience or internship, familiarity with construction documents, and solid communication skills.

Qualifications

1–2 years of experience as a Project Engineer or related internship.
Industry related degree or coursework is a plus.
Ability to read and interpret construction documents.
Knowledge of construction methods and materials.
High level of initiative and problem-solving skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication.
Detail-oriented and highly organized.
Flexibility to balance competing needs.
Ability to build positive relationships across the organization.
Proficiency in basic computer software including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.

Responsibilities

Participate in the development of the project plan and ensure proper execution.
Make recommendations for design or other changes to improve quality, reduce costs, and improve schedule.
Assist Superintendent with equipment review and planning.
Assist with pre-construction meetings with subcontractors.
Maintain and protect tools, equipment, and materials on the jobsite.
Assist with site logistics and cleanup to present a professional image.
Maintain accurate cost reporting and respond to RFIs.
Assist in developing and updating the project schedule.
Document delays and inform Superintendent.
Monitor field performance across subcontractors, employees, consultants, schedules, quality, and costs.
Maintain relations with owners’ and architects’ representatives, escalating major issues to supervision.
Set up, organize, read, communicate, and update project schedules.
