Job summary

Gray Construction is seeking an experienced Field Engineer to join our field operations team in Lexington, VA. You will support the Site Manager with layout, material procurement, QA/QC, safety, and daily reporting to ensure project success on multiple national jobs.

The role requires a hands-on, team-oriented professional with 2+ years of construction experience or 4+ years in lieu of a degree, plus proficiency with MS Office. Occasional travel to project sites may be required.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school with 2+ years of related construction experience.
• Or 4+ years of relevant construction experience in lieu of a degree.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) on tablets and smartphones.
• Strong work ethic, energetic, self-motivated team player.

Responsibilities

• Assist Site Manager in layout of building items (structural, civil, process, and architectural).
• Assist in procurement of construction materials and manage purchase orders.
• Monitor deliveries and file receiving reports; track subcontractor performance.
• Conduct on-site QA/QC audits and maintain progress drawings (redlines, as-builts).
• Help produce daily project reports and monthly man-hour reports.
• Support safety programs and participate in safety meetings.

Education

Associates degree or equivalent from two-year College or technical school
