Job summary

Hensel Phelps is seeking a Field Engineer to directly support the Superintendent in front-line field management on landmark projects. You will perform surveying, form checks, and coordination with trade partners while maintaining safety and quality control.

The role emphasizes field time, with some duties in the field office. A 4-year degree and at least 1 year of experience are required, plus a valid driver’s license and familiarity with project software tools.

Qualifications

• A 4-year degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture, Construction Management or related field.
• 1 year of experience and/or a combination of education and experience.
• Valid Driver’s License.
• Computer software proficiency: Microsoft Office Suite, Excel templates, ProjectSight, Primavera and AutoDesk Suite.
• Preferred: Internship in the construction industry.

Responsibilities

• Project layout (surveying) in conformance with design and contract documents.
• Check concrete forms for accuracy and adequacy of construction, including embedded items.
• Produce production trend analysis for quantities and report for weekly/monthly schedule and cost control.
• Assist with quality control, site safety initiatives and coordination of trade partners.
• Possibly direct a small workforce to gain supervisory experience.
• Coordinate material deliveries by checking requirements and delivery status.
• Inspect materials for quantity, quality and condition; report missing/damaged items.
• Assist foremen and trade partners with interpretation of plans and specifications.
• Oversee trade partners and direct a workforce to gain supervisory experience.
• Participate in jobsite safety meetings and audits.
• Collaborate with VDC team on scope, plan and deliverables for field operations.
• Review and navigate 3D model viewing and scheduling software.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Structural, Architecture, Construction Management or related field
