Job summary

Graham Construction, a 3G Company, is seeking a Field Engineer Intern for a summer program in Eastern Iowa. This field-based internship offers hands-on exposure to project sites, site photography, RFIs, submittals, and safety processes under the supervision of the project team.

You will document progress, attend meetings, learn schedules, and develop an intern project. Proficiency with Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Projects, and Outlook will be valuable, and strong communication and detail

Qualifications

• Bachelor's (preferred) or associate degree in construction management/related field.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Extremely detail-oriented.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Participate and document Safety Walks.
• Complete jobsite progress photos and reports.
• Document foremen meeting minutes.
• Review and learn about 6-week schedule from the superintendent.
• Update client on job progress via the Client app.
• Assist with RFIs, ASIs, PRs, submittals, closeouts and other documentation.
• Attend Pre-punch, punch list items and walk with architect.
• Assist Project Manager and Superintendent with various duties.
• Promote and enforce safety policies.
• Utilize Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Projects, and Outlook.
• Follow Graham Core Processes, including jobsite checklists.
• Maintain relationships with owners/clients, architects, trade partners.
• Attend job site tours to learn about projects.
• Create and present an intern project with other interns.
• Complete intern educational projects (e.g., estimating).
• Attend company-wide events such as safety meetings and quarterly retreats.

Job Title: Field Engineer Intern

Purpose: The purpose of the Graham Construction, a 3G Company Internship Program, is to provide a training and educational opportunity for selected college students. The overall objective of this program is to develop well-trained individuals to prepare them for their future career as eventual field or project leaders. In addition to training, the internship program is an effort to retain potential long-term employees whose experience and Core Values match those of Graham Construction, a 3G Company.

Job Duties:

• Participate and document Safety Walks

• Assist with RFIs (Request for Information), ASIs (Architects Supplemental Instruction), PRs (Proposal Request), submittals, closeouts and other documentation
• Attend Pre-punch, punch list items & punch list walk with architect
• Assist Project Manager and Superintendent with various duties
• Promote and enforce safety policies
• Utilize Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Projects, and Outlook
• Follow Graham Core Processes, including jobsite checklists
• Maintain great relationships with owners/clients, architects, trade partners, and other industry representatives
• Attend job site tour visits to learn about various types of Construction projects
• Create and present an intern project with other interns
• Complete intern educational projects (ex. Estimating assignments)
• Attend company-wide events, such as the safety meeting, quarterly retreats, and the State of the Company meeting.
• All other duties as assigned

What knowledge, skills, and abilities you’ll bring:

• Obtaining a bachelor’s (preferred) or associate degree in construction management/related degree
• Great verbal and written communication skills
• Extremely detail-oriented
• Strong leadership skills
• Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary

Legal Requirements:

• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass post-offer employment testing
• Ability to pass a post-offer drug test
• Must be able to navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
• Ability to work within one of Graham Construction, a 3G Company’s operational areas as assigned
