Job summary

Graham Construction, a 3G Company, is seeking a Field Engineer to support project teams on Central Iowa construction sites. You will learn the fundamentals of building, assist with budgeting, bid activities, procurement, and scheduling, while maintaining strong relationships with owners, architects, and trade partners.

The role emphasizes safety, accuracy in reporting, and collaboration with field leadership to deliver quality work on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred; associate degree acceptable with field experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Extremely detail-oriented with leadership ability.

Responsibilities

• Learn building fundamentals and codes with the superintendent and foreman.
• Assist with budgeting, bidding, buyouts, procurement logs, RFIs, and COs.
• Provide input in project meetings with trade partners.
• Complete procurement logs and submittals timely.
• Ensure equipment and material arrive per schedule.
• Promote Graham safety policies and conduct site safety walks.
• Analyze labor and material reports with project team.

A day in the life of a Field Engineer at Graham Construction, a 3G Company: This is a position that plays an important role in our construction projects. Based on a construction project site, they assist through all the life-cycles of a project by supporting and learning from field leaders. They help encourage and drive our safety culture.

Job Title: Field Engineer

Reports to: Field Resource Leader

Purpose:

The purpose of this job project is to learn the fundamentals of building and assist the project team to ensure quality work is performed in a timely and cost-effective manner.

What you'll do:

• Work with superintendent and foreman to learn building fundamentals and codes
• Aid superintendent and project manager with project budgeting, bidding, buyouts, procurement log, RFIs, and certifications of occupancies
• Provides input in Pre and 1st Installation Verification meetings with trade partners
• Complete procurement log and submittals in a timely manner
• Ensure equipment and material arrive at the jobsite per schedule
• Promote, enforce, and train trade partners on Graham’s safety policies
• Conducts safety walks and reports
• Works closely with Superintendent and Project Manager to learn labor and material reports and able to accurately analyze the available money and manpower for specific work activities
• Utilize Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Projects, and Outlook
• Follow Graham Core Processes, including jobsite checklists
• Maintain great relationships with owners/clients, architects, trade partners, and other industry representatives
• All other duties as assigned

What knowledge, Skills, & Abilities you'll bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management/related degree (preferred), associate degree in construction management or equivalent field experience
• Great verbal and written communication skills
• Extremely detail-oriented
• Strong leadership skills

Legal Requirements

• Ability to work nights and weekends as necessary
• Valid driver’s license
• Ability to pass post-offer employment testing
• Ability to pass a post-offer drug test
  
• Must be able to navigate all areas of the construction site in all types of weather.
• Ability to take and pass OSHA 30 certification
• Ability to work within one of Graham Construction, a 3G Company's operational areas as assigned

Note - This will be an in-field Central Iowa position, not an office position.
